Brian Pitcher
Dr. Brian Pitcher is Chancellor of the Washington State University Spokane campus at Riverpoint and has served in that position since 2005.
Prior to joining WSU, Dr. Pitcher was provost at the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho, for seven years and served as acting president of the university in the spring of 2003. Also during his tenure at Idaho, he was a professor of sociology and adjunct professor of educational administration.
From 1978 to 1996, Dr. Pitcher served Utah State University as a faculty member and administrator, including five years as dean of the College of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
In Spokane, Brian serves Greater Spokane Incorporated as a Trustee, a member of its Higher Education Leadership Group, and he chairs its Health Industry Development Group. He is a member of the Spokane Symphony’s Finance Committee and is an Executive Committee member of the local Boy Scouts of America. Brian also serves on the Board of Directors of TVW, the Washington State Public Affairs Network in Olympia.
He earned bachelor and master degrees at Brigham Young University and his Ph.D. in sociology at the University of Arizona.
