“Approximately two-thirds of our future workforce – women, people of color and people with disabilities – remains minimally tapped as a source of future engineers. The value of increasing the participation in engineering of women and other under-represented populations goes beyond increasing headcount. The full participation of all segments of the American population is necessary to realize the value of diversity. Innovation will flourish when diverse individuals bring differences in perspectives, experiences, communications, and values to a workplace team to collaborate in creative ways to generate new ideas. To be globally competitive, we must leverage our nation’s competitive advantage – our diversity.”
