Edwin Massey, PhD
Dr. Edwin R. Massey was appointed Indian River State College’s third President in 1988. Dr. Massey came to the college in 1973 as a biology professor and held several administrative positions prior to becoming President. Dr. Massey earned his Ph.D. in Zoology, with an emphasis in Marine Biochemistry, from the University of Southern Mississippi and completed post-graduate studies in Evolutionary Biochemistry at Duke University.
Dr. Massey serves on various local, state and national boards including Chair of the Florida Articulation Coordinating Council and State of Florida Task Force on the Study of Biotech Competitiveness. He serves as the Lead Primary Investigator for Center for Ocean Sciences Education Excellence (COSEE) Florida, a partnership between IRSC, Florida Institute of Technology, Smithsonian Marine Station at Fort Pierce and the Ocean Research & Conservation Association. Dr. Massey is also a 2008 Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society Shirley B. Gordon Award of Distinction recipient.
