Behind California’s New Science Framework

Chelsea Cochrane is currently a Science Coordinator at the San Diego County Office of Education. During her 22 years as an educator, she has worked as a middle school math and science teacher, elementary classroom teacher, science lab teacher, and district science coach. She also worked as a Teacher in Residence for Sally Ride Science. Chelsea has been a panel speaker and presenter at many state and national conferences. She is a Lead Writer for the California NGSS Statewide Rollout Symposiums and a member of the CA Science Communities of Practice. Cochrane is passionate about science for all students and believes the NGSS provide an opportunity to transform the way teachers engage students in scientific thinking and connect classroom learning to the work of diverse scientists currently working in the field.
