Stephanie Couch

Stephanie Couch is the Executive Director of Cal State East Bay’s Institute for STEM Education. The Institute works to advance STEM teaching and learning in parallel with the rapidly changing knowledge, practices, and needs in STEM fields and disciplines. Dr. Couch also serves as Director of the Gateways East Bay STEM Network which functions as a leadership hub for regional stakeholders working together to improve educational outcomes in STEM across Alameda and Contra Costa counties in California.

Prior to her work in higher education, Dr. Couch served as an education consultant in the California legislature and as a legislative advocate for numerous education clients. She is also a former school board member with the San Juan Unified School District. She possesses a BA in Political Science from UC Davis, and an MA and PhD in Education from UC Santa Barbara.
