Dr. Becker, a classically trained chemist, is the founding director of the PSU Center for Science Education. Since 1992, the CSE has been the administrative home for science outreach and professional development programs at Portland State University. In fall 2011 Dr. Becker along with colleagues from K-12, higher education, local business and community STEM providers initiated a process that has led to the formation of the Portland Metro STEM Partnership (PMSP). The PMSP is a collective impact partnership of 25 core and collaborating partners who have the shared goal of transforming the K-12 STEM teaching and learning cultures in partnering schools and school districts. Dr. Becker also serves as the  Executive Director of Intel STEM Center for College and Career Readiness. The STEM Center is the administrative home of the PMSP.
